" At the beginning of 2020, when Covid-19 began, I felt like I was not doing enough for those in need within my community and I felt inside my heart that I needed to do something to change that. I knew that I wanted to be a part of something where I can act in a way that was bigger than just myself and I knew that I could achieve that goal as a volunteer. As the pandemic continued, I kept thinking about how I could better serve my community as a volunteer and eventually discovered the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps. In October of 2020,
I put in my application and a few weeks later became a member of FLVAC. Very early on in my time at FLVAC I fell in love with the role, the people, and the feeling of inclusion. As a probationary member I learned so many new skills that helped me through my time in EMT school. Now that I have become a certified EMT, I always want to continue to push myself and expand my education so that I am always prepared to help others in any situation that arises. Being a member at FLVAC has helped me realize my new dream of becoming a Paramedic. With this new dream in my heart, I have already enrolled myself into a Paramedic certification program and upon completion plan on utilizing that certification to continue to help others, but now both as a volunteer at FLVAC and as a career.
If you too have any aspirations to be a part of something larger than just yourself, then FLVAC is the place to be. I urge anyone who feels the same way that I do about the community that we call home to put in an application and become a part of the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps family. I really hope to see you as a member soon.
