“I didn’t picture my life to be what it is like now 11 years later after becoming a FLVAC EMT. If you had told 16 year old Ansara that she’s be waking up at all hours of the night, she’d say no way, sleep is important. But here I am, a full time graduate nursing student, soccer coach, and player, and giving up sleep. There’s not a day that goes by where I sit in class and regret being on call the night before and helping someone who was at their worst. I smile, knowing I made a difference and no amount of sleep could ever wipe that smile off my face. Being an EMT
has afforded me the opportunity to not only advance my social, healthcare, and other life skills, but has also given me the opportunity to meet wonderful people who have inspired me to continue to dedicate my life to healthcare and emergency medicine. Giving up a full night of sleep once a week, has given me a purpose. Who wouldn’t want to trade that?”.
