"Growing up, I always watched my dad leave at any time during the day or night to go answer emergency calls. Whenever he walked back inside the first thing me and my siblings would do was ask all about it. From the time I was a kid, I knew I wanted to do that too. I joined the ambulance corps in 2014 and it has proven to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have learned so much during my membership here, from how to do CPR and be a part of the crew that has saved lives, to how to hold someone’s hand when they are hurting. I have met
my best friends here. I ride the ambulances with my family; both literally and figuratively because my sister, brother in law, and girlfriend are members here with me! The ambulance corps here goes deeper than just answering 911 calls together. The bonds we form are indescribable. Together we go through the highest highs, and support each other through our lows. I will forever be grateful for everyone l have met here. I have found a support system through it all, including my journey of being transgender. These people here are the most accepting, loving group you can get. I have never felt anything short of unconditional love and support. This corps has helped shape me into the person I am today, and I will always be grateful for it."
